Class Magazine Project
We chose to create a magazine by the name of "Dragonfly," a magazine for teenage girls. We chose to make a magazine for teenage girls because everyone in our group are all teenage girls and we know what is the most popular and well-liked within our age range. We chose "Dragonfly" as a name because a dragonfly represents change and transformation, which is what teenage girls undergo. Our magazine's main color was purple to represent royalty; this gives teenage girls the message that they are valued and respected in this magazine. Our slogan, "we are not like the other girls," also implies that the girls who choose this magazine are special and will be treated as such. We put "expert opinion on girls" in the banner to demonstrate our credibility to show that "Dragonfly" is a trustworthy magazine that can help teenage girls through the changes they are going through. We chose Billie Eilish, a well-known pop star, for our cover and our headline because she is also a teenage girl who was known for going through difficult transitions that teenage girls can relate to. We made our magazine cover a "Halloween Edition" to match the unsettling and mysterious persona that Billie Eilish is known for having. Hence, we incorporated green slime and spiderwebs into our magazine. Our cover lines include items such as boy tips, advice from Lizzo, a pop star, and coupons for Venus Razors, which are some of the things that pique the interest of girls our age. We highlighted our buzzwords to make the reader excited about the stories.
